Buckeye Trivia Night
Join us at Parlay at 7pm this Wednesday, February 22 for a night of Buckeye Trivia!
Cost to enter is $25 for a team of up to 6 people. There will be Ohio State-themed questions, prizes, and fun! Teams are strongly encouraged to come with a Buckeye-themed name and wearing as much scarlet and gray as possible. Parlay will also offer specials for all entered in the trivia contest.
This evening doubles as a fundraiser for the John Glenn College’s Washington Academic Internship Program (WAIP), which bring young Buckeyes to DC to intern for a semester. All proceeds will go to the WAIP crowdfunding campaign.
Gather your closest and most trivia-savvy Buckeyes and join us on Wednesday! Questions? Email OSUDC President Carter Alleman.
B1G Men’s Basketball – Call for Babies
The Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament is coming to DC next month! The Big Ten Conference is scouting for babies (who are still crawling) to be part of the baby crawling contest during halftime at the 2017 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament at the Verizon Center. The contest will take place on Wednesday, March 8, during the 2nd game (7pm) of the day. Please email president@osudc.org if you or anyone you know is interested in representing Ohio State in the contest! Go Buckeye Babies!
Contribute to the WAIP scholarship fund during this February Buckeye Month of Giving!
We are lucky to have current Ohio State students here in D.C. every semester as they take part in The John Glenn College of Public Affairs Washington Academic Internship Program (WAIP)! WAIP selects outstanding undergraduates from any major to spend a semester in Washington, D.C., as John Glenn Fellows. Students work in field placements that reflect their particular areas of academic interest. Recent internships include the EPA, U.S. Department of Education, Children’s Defense Fund, Partnership for Public Service, Battelle, U.S Department of Commerce, the White House, U.S. Senate and the Federal Judicial Center. The internships are life changing and allow students to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom.
While in Washington, John Glenn Fellows remain fully registered Ohio State students. Students earn academic credit hours for their internship, the research seminar in which a policy paper is developed, and a course on policymaking and public service in the Washington community.
This opportunity, while priceless, costs students an extra $4200 for their semester in Washington, making it cost prohibitive for many to go. To contribute, visit the Buckeye Funder page here! Your tax-deductible contribution counts towards your $75 OSUAA sustaining membership.
