Big Ten Fun Run

Join OSUDC for the first (hopefully annual) Big Ten Fun Run! Come to Salt Line DC TOMORROW, April 30, for a 10:30am fun run with participants from all of the Big Ten alumni clubs in the area. With enough interest we hope to eventually lure an official Big Ten Network 10k out here in DC! There will be a bag watch, but the fun run is self-timed. Stick around for socializing at Salt Line afterwards! Feel free to do as much of the run as you’d like. One lap is 5k and two is a full 10k. Come cheer on your school and see who the fastest Big Ten alumni chapter is in DC!

Wish Our VP Happy Birthday With a Donation to Our Spearman Scholarship Fund!

Our very own Melissa Wasser, OSUDC’s Vice President and Game Day Coordinator, just celebrated a milestone birthday! To celebrate, she’s raising money for our Spearman Scholarship Fund, as well as scholarships for the Moritz College of Law. Check out her Buckeye Funder here and make your gift today!

B1G Night at the Nats

Join Big Ten students, alumni, and fans as they represent the Big Ten Conference by wearing school colors at Nationals Park when the Nats host the Cubs on August 15 at 7:05 PM!

With the purchase of a special ticket, fans will receive an $8 concession credit.


OSUDC has service events in Fairfax County for Adopt-A-Highway throughout the year!

We meet at the McDonald’s at the intersection of Lee Chapel Rd. and Old Keene Mill Rd. in Burke, VA at 9:00am on the pickup date. The pickup is cancelled in the event of rain. Please contact Phil Gbur if you have any questions.

Please note that this is an age 18+ years event, per DMV safety rules. Events may be canceled/rescheduled due to COVID-19 restrictions, this event will be updated if and when that happens.

Alumni Athletics Are Back!

Spread the word – softball is back and we need YOU!!
We can have half the team be non-alums and at the moment we need them or we will not be able to field a team.
Interested? Email Renita ASAP! The season begins on April 29.


Softball
Season start: April 29th, 2022
Time: Friday nights, weekend mornings and afternoons. Times will vary!
Field Location: Ohio Drive
Cost: $45 (additional cost for jersey if you don’t have one and tournament in August) You will pay alumni@osudc.org on paypal, or @osudc on venmo – put SOFTBALL in the notes.
 
*If you are new to the softball team, we will need the following information:

  • Graduation year (or if you took at least 12 credits at tOSU)
  • Did you play varsity or not? (The league requires this kind of information to be reported)
  • Phone number
  • Preferred position to play

We are looking for a co-captain/coach. If you are interested, please email Renita: athletics@osudc.org

Kickball
Season start: April 25, 2022
Time: Wednesday/Thursday nights, 7 – 9pm (night is still TBD)
Field Location: New York Ave Playground,  Old DPR Headquarters, Stead Field, OR Harry Thomas Recreation Center (you can see the locations on the registration site)
Cost: $80 (registration closes APRIL 13th)
How to register:

  • After clicking the registration link, please click “join as an individual or with a few friends” as shown below. You will be prompted to create a ZogSports account (or to sign-in if you already have one).
  •  WHEN CREATING AN ACCOUNT PLEASE SELECT “The Ohio State University” AS YOUR SCHOOL IN ORDER TO BE PLACED ON THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY TEAM (OR MAKE SURE THAT IS YOUR SCHOOL IF YOU ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT). 
  • Please ALSO include “The Ohio State University” in the comments section on the main registration form as well.
  • There is NO alumni quota to be met on this team!! Invite your friends to play with you! 😉


Closing
No matter the sport, we would love to add players to the roster! Know any fellow Buckeyes? Or anybody who wants to play? Ask them to join us! The percentage of required alums vs non-alums has dropped significantly to 50%, for softball. And there is absolutely NO quota to be met for the kickball league!!

OSUDC is Club of the Year!

We are thrilled to share that The Ohio State Alumni Club of Greater Washington, DC was recognized as The Ohio State University Alumni Association’s 2021 Club of the Year! Thank you to all of the Buckeye alumni and friends who joined us for virtual event programming throughout the 2020-2021 year.

Our Virtual Beer Tasting event in partnership with Great Lakes Brewing Company was also awarded Innovative Program of the Year!

We can’t wait to see you at an OSUDC event soon. And stay tuned for more videos from our recent and future virtual events to be posted to our YouTube channel.


RENEW OR JOIN OSUDC

The OSUDC membership year runs on the calendar year from January 1 – December 31. For $25, you are a member of OSUDC; for $75+, you are a member of OSUDC and a sustaining member of OSUAA, which makes you eligible for OSUAA benefits such as football tickets. Membership dues are tax deductible contributions to our OSUAA current use fund that makes programming available to area alumni. Dues can be paid at one time, or you can set up recurring payments.

We offer two ways to become a member:

Option 1) Yearly Membership to Alumni Club of Washington, D.C. | Join now

If you simply want to join the Alumni Club of Washington, D.C. you can do so for a modest donation of $25 per year. This option is open to both Ohio State alumni and Ohio State fans.

Option 2) Yearly sustaining membership to OSUAA + Alumni Club of Washington, D.C. | Join now

Becoming a sustaining member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association requires a yearly donation of $75 (which makes alumni eligible for football tickets and other great benefits). By allocating a yearly donation of $75 or more to the Alumni Club of Washington, D.C., you will get access to OSUAA benefits and Alumni Club of Washington, D.C. incentives. If you have any questions, please contact our membership chair, Alex Temple, at membership@osudc.org, or our treasurer, Melissa Harto, at treasurer@osudc.org.
